What is Toolbelt Theory? Toolbelt Theory, developed by Ira Socol, is a pedagogical framework for supporting students in accessing their personal pursuits through the use of various tools that they can employ independently and, as a result, feel empowered in their individual capacity. The tool each student may use will depend on the task at hand, where this task is taking place, the skills of the user, and the tool’s availability / ease of use.
